What a Difference Fresh Air Makes

It’s quite astounding to me the difference fresh air can make on your mental state, as well as your physical state. Standing in the fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and it’s concrete jungle, I can breathe.

Being so out of touch with nature really leaves room to forget about perspective. That all those little anxieties and worries that you give way to are nothing compared to what’s going on on this planet everyday. I believe it’s only humans who have lost touch with what it actually means to live. Living is so natural, so at peace. There is no ownership of anything. No worry about status, or appearances. It’s organic. It flows – much like the River Timis.

We tend to worry so much about things that are so insignificant. We are so out of touch and out of tune with reality. And please note that when I say we, I mean myself included. There are more important things in life.

Take this family of goats we saw on the side of the road on the way to the river – they are together and their only worry is food, and running around playing. As I watched them I felt a pang of jealousy. How simple their life is. How little anxiety they portray. It hits me then. I can have that. I can choose to be as happy. It’s a matter of not giving power to the things that are currently controlling me. My fears and anxieties are just that – irrational.

I need to spend more time outside of the city. Where there is nothing but nature buzzing. Plants growing wherever they please to. Animals roaming without leashes. And the fresh clean air – which honest to god is more therapeutic than trying to meditate. Simply by surrounding yourself in such a peaceful natural environment is a form of meditation into its own.
